How to do your 90 Day food plan

Thanks to Bryn Johnson, we have some awesome resources to start up our own 90 day food storage.  These are items that you will use EVERYDAY.  Just think of it - the kids call from a long day of skiing and want you to whip up the Chili that they love so much.  Good thing you have all the ingredients in your pantry/storage room.  This is designed for you to plan 3 months worth of meals and have the ingredients on hand for them.

So - I challenge you to get started today!  Select each "form" and paste it into a word program (or just print it from here)

STEP 1:  Write down a list of all of your favorite meals.  Make a list of at least 10 dinners, various lunch and breakfast options.  This is a great activity to do as a family.  Utilize family recipes, internet recipes, and your old stand-by's

STEP 2:  Organize your list onto the Menu below.  List all of the ingredients you will need for each of the meals you've listed.  If you are printing this out, print out the recipes too and put them with this Menu.

Here is a good Month at a glance menu to have handy in your kitchen.  We have just one month listed here, but when you are doing the next step you will purchase for 3 months.  You can re-evaluate from month to month to see if you want to try a new recipe into the mix and not utilize an old one.  I've noticed that I tend to use many of the same "staple" ingredients for TONS of recipes so don't feel bad if you have purchased items for a recipe and don't continue to use that recipe from month to month.

STEP 3:  Take your list of ingredients and record them on this form.  Write the item, the number you will need for all of your recipes and then inventory what you already have and then you will know how many you need to purchase.  Each shopping trip, you can print this form out and do a quick run through on your food storage and just highlight the items you need to replenish.

Don't forget to include hygiene items and cleaners!  This list is just for those types of things.  First aid supplies, shampoo, toilet paper - you know the stuff you can't live without!
